Window blinds for sheds, garages, summer houses and out buildings

January 19th, 2010 in All About Blinds

Most outbuildings not only house old tins of paint and rusting bikes, but also expensive equipment like lawn mowers, power drills but also collections of tools that been lovingly built up over the years. If you own a garden office or summerhouse there will also be expensive gadgets and computers in there too, so privacy is a must.

As your garden building is unlikely to be heated all of the time any window blind that goes up needs to be moisture resistant so that it will last against the elements. Your options include PVC, polyester or metal venetian blinds, all of these will stay looking great for a long time. Have a look below for our suggestions, of course there’s loads more blinds on the Blind 2go website.

Blinds for Sheds

Sheds come in all shapes and sizes (and states of repair and disrepair!). The best option for these sheds is a PVC roller blind. It offers great value for money and will do the job perfectly.

Blinds for Summer Houses

You may well use this space in the warmer months to sit in so you will want a blind that’s in keeping with the convivial atmosphere! One of our roller blinds will give a contemporary feel to the space, a voile roller blind will also help with shading but still keep the light flooding in. Alternatively, an elegant Venetian Blind will add a light and breezy feel.

The home office at the end of the garden

Here you will want shading from the sun but also daylight. The best choice will be a metal venetian blind which will allow you to perfectly control the sun into the room but still easily cast your eyes over the garden with a quick adjustment.

  1. I have a summer house with double doors and one window I’m looking to have fitted with blinds. Are you a nation wide or a localised company. I live within a triangle with Reading Basingstoke and newbury at the corners. Kind regards Paul.

    • Hi Paul, we’re actually supply-only so don’t have any fitting services – we do have some great measuring and fitting guides on the website though if you’d like to take a look

    • Hi I have just purchased a new wooden summerhouse and we need blinds recommending for the windows and doors What do you suggest..?
      Kind regards

  2. Good morning

I have a summer house and have to buy exact blinds and not in a recess, is the mechanism covered or will the mechanism be exposed? Thanks

    • Hi – our metal Venetian Blinds don’t really have anything to cover as the workings are mostly inside the top of the blind, you’ll just see the openings where the cords and wand attach. As for rollers, we don’t offer any coverings or pelmets for the roll and brackets at the top, but they’re pretty discreet anyway. Hope that helps!

  3. Hi I am looking for blinds for my summerhouse it has wooden window frames with a wooden beading holding the windows in
Do you do a perfect fit blind that will fit inside the window recess

    • Hi John, if the window frames and recesses are wooden then I’m afraid I wouldn’t recommend PerfectFIT Blinds, they’re specifically designed for uPVC frames. If you have any space inside the recess then an ordinary Venetian Blind would probably be for the best, but if you wanted to discuss this in more detail then just get in touch with our customer service team and we’ll see what else we can suggest.

  4. Amazing article! About window blinds, for sheds, garages summer houses and outbuildings. I think your article very helpful for lot of people. Thanks for sharing the information.
