ToggleChoosing the Colour of the Year
PANTONE® has established itself as a symbol for the design-minded since its creation 1962, and the PANTONE® Colour Institute is a world-leading colour trend forecaster. Creatives and designers from all disciplines wait with bated breath for the global powerhouse to reveal their pick for Colour of the Year. Selected through a combination of global research and analysis, the choice reflects the global zeitgeist, expressing the world’s mood and attitude through the language of colour.
Colour of the Year 2025: Mocha Mousse
The Pantone Colour Institute describes Mocha Mousse, also known as PANTONE 17-1230, as a warming brown that evokes rich chocolate and coffee. Much like last year, one of the key themes experts came across when selecting the colour of the year was a quest for harmony and comfort. Whilst Peach Fuzz expresses kindness and caring with a lighter shade that evokes calmness and healing, Mocha Mousse progresses this quest for comfort into a richer and more indulgent shade.
“Underpinned by our desire for every day pleasures, Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence. Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, PANTONE 17-1230 extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe.” Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director Pantone Colour Institute, explains. The mellow brown extends further into the indulgence of simple pleasures with subtle elegance and sensorial warmth for a feeling of harmony in an ever-changing world.

Uniquely Balanced
This first palette combines multi-coloured, somewhat exotic shades like PANTONE®’s Cattleya Orchid and Blue Curacao. Mocha Mousse is the perfect way to offset the vibrancy of these shades with its rich and mellow tones.
If you’re making Mocha Mousse a focal point of your room, consider adding our William Morris Pimpernel Elderberry Cushions in collaboration with the V&A to complement the space. The velvet fabric and shades of plum, storm blue and green will emphasise the warmth and decadence of this delectable brown colour.
Floral Pathways
The next colour palette takes a much lighter turn, evoking a springtime garden with its cornucopia of soft floral tones. For this, PANTONE® suggests pairing Mocha Mousse with shades like Cornflower Blue, Rose Tan, and Gardenia.
Our Glen Lyon Basil Roller Blind from the Liberty collection is the perfect way to embrace this palette. This beautiful botanical print in soft tones of blush and sage green sits wonderfully alongside warm browns to create a calming and relaxing space.
Deliciousness
As the name suggests, this tastefully tempting palettes combines other rich shades like Party Punch, Winery, and Pink Lemonade with Mocha Mousse to create a delectable scheme inspired by confectionary.
Consider our Liliana Garnet Roman Blind if you’re looking to add a sweet touch to your Mocha Mousse space. The enviable deep tone will make a fantastic impact on any room it’s paired with, and will help to draw even more warmth from the colour of the year.
Subtle Contrasts
Here, subtle browns blend with nuanced blues and greys for a truly classic look. When paired with soft browns like Mocha Mousse, this adds a modern elegance and sophistication to the scheme.
Our Grey Wash & Latte Faux Wood Blind blends seamlessly into this scheme, it’s the perfect middle ground for those that love the idea of grey but also love the warming tones of natural wood, and just oozes warmth and comfort.
Relaxed Elegance
This will perhaps be the most popular palette that PANTONE® creates this year. It truly displays the versatility of Mocha Mousse and highlights why it’s the perfect pick for Colour of the Year. This year saw the popularity of trends like ‘Quiet Luxury’ continue to reach new heights – and they’re not slowing down.
This strong palette encompasses a core range of beige, cream, and brown that just exudes elegant simplicity. It’s a timeless, organic, and seasonless scheme, and we think our Tulum Blackout Birch & Pumice Roman Blind is the perfect pairing.
