How to Bring the PANTONE® Colour of the Year 2024 Into Your Home

PANTONE® has established itself as a symbol for the design-minded since its creation 1962, and the PANTONE® Colour Institute is a world-leading colour trend forecaster. Creatives and designers from all disciplines wait with bated breath for the global powerhouse to reveal their pick for Colour of the Year, and for 2024, PANTONE® has selected Peach Fuzz.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the PANTONE® Colour of the Year program which started back in 1999, and over the years it has become a true globally iconic cultural touchstone.

Reflecting on this legacy, Vice President of the PANTONE® Colour Institute Laurie Pressman spoke to how the program has become such a global powerhouse; ‘its impact is felt across fashion, colour cosmetics, home furnishings, automotive and industrial design, as well as product, packaging, multimedia design, and commercial interiors’ and its popularity only grows every year.

Choosing Colour of the Year

The global colour experts at the PANTONE® Colour Institute search for new colour influences that have taken the world by storm, looking at every industry imaginable, from design and production to travel, sports, and even technology; they’re searching for what has captured worldwide attention.

‘The PANTONE® Color of the Year selection process entails thoughtful consideration and trend analysis. It is a culmination of the macro-level colour trend forecasting and research that the global team involved with the PANTONE® Color Institute conducts’,

Pressman explains. And this research doesn’t happen overnight, ‘It is one long, continuously flowing conversation among a group of colour-attuned people. We discuss our colour psychology and colour trend research as we look to connect the mood of the global zeitgeist with the corresponding colour family’ she expands.

Meet Peach Fuzz

PANTONE® describes Peach Fuzz as a ‘velvety gentle peach whose all-embracing spirit enriches heart, mind, and body’. Like many trends forecast for the next year, it reflects a desire for togetherness, bringing warmth and a message of caring and sharing.

Laurie Pressman puts it best, ‘at a time of turmoil in many aspects of our lives, our need for nurturing, empathy and compassion grows ever stronger as does our imaginings of a more peaceful future’, and that is what Peach Fuzz encapsulates.

Using Peach Fuzz in Home Decor

The PANTONE® Colour Institute has selected a beautifully versatile shade for 2024, and there’s an abundance of ways you can bring this stunning shade into your home decor.

Subtle Accessories

If you’re part of the ‘less is more’ crowd, opt for a few scatter cushions to integrate into your existing scheme. Our William Morris Pimpernel Clementine Cushion designed in collaboration with the V&A is a great option, and it plays into the tactual nature of the shade selected by Pantone too.

Peach Fuzz is ‘a colour whose nurturing and cosy sensibility brings people together and elicits a feeling of tactility’ Pressman explained, and this cushion offers just this. The plush feather pad and linen-look cover evoke warmth and comfort with a luxurious touch, making it the perfect accompaniment to Peach Fuzz.

Bigger Statements

Adding blinds or curtains to your windows is the perfect way to bring dimension to your space and draw together all of the existing colours and designs to create a harmonious space.

In the context of adding the new Colour of the Year to your home, the perfect way to do this is with a blind or curtain, and the versatility of Peach Fuzz means this will incorporate beautifully with almost any decor.

Our Real Silk Allora Rose Gold Roman Blind is the perfect choice, it’s a shimmering shade that’s always on-trend and is very closely related to PANTONE®’s Peach Fuzz. Plus, as it’s made from silk, it will add undeniable glamour to any space.

This luxurious fabric also plays into another key part of Peach Fuzz, its tactility; the smooth fibres add a sense of calm and relaxation to this blind. Pair this sumptuous fabric with a light-filtering fabric for even more warmth and allow the sunlight to cast a glow over your space.

Plus, the tilt of the louvres gives you maximum light control, so you can bathe your space in natural sunlight, or enjoy sophisticated shading with the simple twist of a wand.

Patterns for Impact

If you’re partial to a bit of pattern in your home, or want to use Peach Fuzz as part of a statement piece, why not go for one of our stunningly patterned blinds or curtains where Peach Fuzz is part of the ensemble rather than the main event?

Looking to keep things in the peach family? Check out our Ideal Home Oasis Stripe Terracotta Roman Blind which explores the whole gamut of orange shades from the lightest tones of papaya whip, all the way through to rich brick oranges. Complementary Colour Palettes

To help introduce Peach Fuzz into your home, PANTONE® has created several colour palettes filled with complementary shades that pair beautifully with Peach Fuzz. These are a great place to start if you’re looking for a pattern that will complement this up-and-coming shade, pick a few other hues from your palette of choice and find a pattern that incorporates all of them. PANTONE® has created a variety of palettes you can choose from, and here we’re going to give some suggestions for our favourites.

‘Pairings’ is described as a ‘friendly mix of tonal colour’ with variations of pink, orange, blue, and green which marry together to create a harmonious space. Our William Morris Golden Lily Coral Roman Blind is the perfect example for this palette, combining all of the key shades in a beautifully soft botanical print that simultaneously evokes warmth and lightness.

‘Hybrid Hues’ is a group of shades ‘exhibiting a dichotomy of varied tones, all seemingly discordant, yet at the same time, harmonious’. It combines Peach Fuzz with an array of blues, greens and reds to create a mixture of colours that don’t look like they should work, but they do. Our Esther Terracotta encapsulates this brilliantly; it mixes amber, navy, and baby blue celestial motifs against a tile-like peachy backdrop to create stunning cosy mid-century glamour perfect for contemporary homes.

Peach Fuzz is a beautifully versatile shade, and hopefully we’ve given you some inspiration on how to incorporate this into your home decor.
