“Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful” William Morris

We are thrilled to collaborate with the V&A to bring you a wonderfully contemporary take on William Morris’s much-loved work in an exclusive collection of made-to-measure Blinds and Curtains.

Spotlight on William Morris

One of the 19th century’s most famous names, William Morris, is still renowned today as the designer of patterns such as ‘Willow Bough’ and ‘Strawberry Thief’.

The V&A’s hugely varied Morris collection reflects the impressive range of one of Britain’s most prolific designers. As well as Morris’ celebrated designs for wallpapers and printed textiles, other areas of his (and his collaborators’) practice are also well represented, including tiles, stained glass, floor coverings, embroidery and furniture.

Arts and Craft Champion

Throughout his career, Morris regularly visited and studied the V&A’s collections perhaps ‘more than any man living’, taking inspiration and attempting to recreate the methods of construction he observed, particularly in historical textiles. Morris’ belief in equality of access to the arts made him a great friend to the South Kensington Museum.

The design team at Blinds 2go has taken 8 of Morris’ most recognisable patterns and created a unique offering of Roman blinds, Roller blinds and Curtains in over 40 exclusive new colourways.  This collection aims to maintain the essence and beauty of those original patterns, combining them with modern palettes that make them easier to use in a contemporary setting.

Strawberry Thief

A firm favourite, Strawberry Thief hasn’t been out of print since 1883. Inspired by the thrushes that frequently stole strawberries in the kitchen garden of his country home in Oxfordshire, this is one of Morris’s best-known designs. From blush pink to striking blue tones, Strawberry Thief is available in a variety of dynamic colours that celebrates the classic Morris design, but with a contemporary twist.

Willow Bough

Inspired by the wild flowers and trees William Morris saw on his country walks, this design features layers of beautifully detailed willow branches. The willow is one of Morris’s favourite motifs and has been used in several of his designs for wallpaper and textiles. Featured here, the ‘Willow Bough’ design can be admired in a charming spectrum of colours that feel fresh and contemporary for today’s interiors.
