What are Thermal Curtains

Thermal Curtains are capable of creating a cosy haven anywhere in your home, with a luxurious, soft fabric that helps to regulate the temperature by trapping the heat at your windows all year round. Here are our considerations for choosing Thermal Curtains for your scheme.

What are the Benefits of Thermal Curtains?

  • Helps to improve your energy efficiency – Thermal Curtains feature a triple-layered fabric that helps you trap the heat at your windows, perfect for keeping your space insulated.
  • Available in a plethora of designs – Whether you’re looking for a style that pairs harmoniously with a classic or contemporary interior, we have a variety of patterns from leading designer names to discover alongside light and dark shades.
  • Allows sunlight to filter through the fabric – A thermal interlining will help protect your privacy when drawn together, while allowing gentle hues to filter through the fabric.
  • Can layer with blinds – Layering Thermal Curtains with the right type of blind will bring visual flair to your space. Plus, when the curtains and blinds are closed, they help you keep out external light from street lamps and headlights and more – an ideal combination for street-facing bedrooms.

Do Thermal Curtains Reduce Noise?

Their thick material helps you reduce noise from coming into your space, but not completely. If you’re looking for further noise reduction, we recommend our Blackout Blinds with Side Tracks, featuring a honeycomb folded fabric that helps to improve your thermal efficiency and block out sound.

Are Thermal Curtains Good for Summer and Winter?

Thermal Curtains are perfect for the hot, summer months, helping you keep your space cooler and regulated by trapping the heat at your window. Conversely, they’ll act as a barrier for retaining the heat in your space in winter, helping you lower your energy bills and keep your space cosy.

Are Thermal Curtains Blackout?

Although they protect your privacy when closed, Thermal Curtains aren’t blackout. For blocking out the light completely, explore our Blackout Curtains, featuring versatile designs, shades and more that are ideal for your bedroom and bay windows.

How to Hang Thermal Curtains

Hanging your Thermal Curtains depends on the type of heading you’ve chosen:

  • Eyelet – Feed each eyelet through your curtain pole and ensure that the leading fold of the fabric is pointing inwards towards your window.
  • Pinch Pleat – Make sure you have the same number of track gliders or pole rings as you have pleats, then attach the hooks on the curtain fabric to each of them.
  • Pencil Pleat – Tie the cords at one end of the heading tape, then check the width you need the curtains to be so that the two pieces of fabric meet perfectly in the middle of your window. Take hold of the loose cords at the untied end and start to pull them, ensuring they’re pulled evenly so the pleats are straight.
  • Wave – Our Wave Thermal Curtains come with a track included that keeps the fabric neatly spaced for a perfect, flowing appearance every time.

Can you Wash Thermal Curtains?

For dusting your curtains, take a microfibre cloth and gently wipe down the fabric. However, for cleaning any stains, we would recommend taking them to a dry cleaners to prevent accidental damage to the fabric, such as discolouration and abrasion.

What are the Best Rooms for Thermal Curtains?

  • Living rooms – If your living room features wide window spaces, Thermal Curtains will help you reduce screen glare while you’re watching the TV while offering thermal efficiency to minimise heat loss.
  • Dining rooms – Curtains in dining rooms add an ever so elegant touch to your scheme, especially when paired alongside one of our beautiful patterns.
  • Bedrooms – If you already have blinds in your bedroom but you’re looking for additional shading, Thermal Curtains are a great solution, helping you get an uninterrupted night’s sleep when your blinds are closed and your curtains are drawn together.
