Modra venetian blinds :: all about grosgrain tape
Posted by Anna in Blinds, House stuff, Venetian blinds on July 6th, 2010
There was some debate in the office last week about our great new Modra venetian blind. We have taken the world of venetian blinds to a whole new stratosphere with the addition of a grosgrain tape.
The debate was “who actually knows what grosgrain is?”. Well very soon we ALL knew what it was, and once you know what it is you spot it just about everywhere. Here’s a quick sample of gorgeous things featuring grosgrain tape. We are in excellent company, note the vintage Yves Saint Laurent cocktail dress and Kate Spade handbag.
PS – If you’re still unsure about what grosgrain is, it’s a type of fabric characterised by its ribbed appearance. In grosgrain the weft is heavier than the warp, creating prominent transverse ribs. It is called a “corded” fabric since the weft resembles a fine cord. Thanks very much to wiki!
PPS – Make sure you take a look at the wonderfully stylish Modra collection in all its stunning colours.
New blinds :: Modra venetian blinds with tapes
Posted by Anna in Blinds, Venetian blinds on June 24th, 2010
Just when you thought that a venetian blind was simply a venetian blind, we go and get all innovative!
Let me introduce you to the Modra venetian blind, our usual wonderful blind enhanced with a stunning grosgrain tape. The tape is just like the tape you have down the side seams of a black tie suit, it’s robust and gently ribbed adding a nice touch of texture to the metal slat.
The Modra blinds have such character with their stylish twist, available in six colour ways from white, through to cream, silver and black. For a soft look maybe opt for Cream & Tallow, if it’s a high tech look that you’re after then either Sterling and Silver Grey or Lunar and Silver Grey are superb options, for a strong statement look then Jet Black and Ebony is a winner.

How to dust & clean venetian blinds
Posted by Anna in Blinds, Blinds 2go, House stuff, Venetian blinds, Wooden blinds on March 2nd, 2010
If you own a metal venetian blind or wooden blind then you will know how great they look when freshly dusted and we have just the tool to make the job (almost) a pleasure …
Our venetian blind cleaner will clean up to six 25mm slats at once and will also work on 50mm slats. With a bit of ingenuity the cleaner will work on 35mm slats too.
Drag the cleaner across the slats and the fluffy ‘fingers’ will grab any dirt going, leaving the blind sparkling. (The pleasurable bit is turning the fingers around and seeing all the dust!) If there are any stubborn marks then use a slightly damp cloth to sponge the mark off.
Browse Blinds 2go to see our range of venetian and wooden blinds or click here to purchase the cleaner.

Window blinds for sheds, garages, summer houses and out buildings
Posted by Anna in Blinds, Roller blinds, Venetian blinds on January 19th, 2010
Most outbuildings not only house old tins of paint and rusting bikes but also expensive equipment like lawn mowers, power drills but also collections of tools that been lovingly built up over the years. If you own a garden office or summerhouse there will also be expensive gadgets and computers in there too. The least you can do is cover the windows so that passing people (ok then, thieves) can’t see all your goodies.
As your garden building is unlikely to be heated all of the time any window blind that goes up needs to be moisture resistant so that it will last against the elements. Your options include PVC, polyester or metal venetian blinds, all of these will stay looking great for a long time. Have a look below for our suggestions, of course there’s loads more blinds on the Blind 2go website.
It’s just a shed
Sheds come in all shapes and sizes (and states of repair and disrepair!). The best option for these sheds is a PVC roller blind. It offers great value for money and will do the job perfectly. To view all the PVC roller blinds please click here.
Summer Houses
You may well use this space in the warmer months to sit in so you will want a blind that’s in keeping with the convivial atmosphere! One of our roller blinds will give a contemporary feel to the space, a voile roller blind will also help with shading but still keep the light flooding in. Alternatively an elegant venetian blind, maybe our Gold venetian blind or Peppermint to keep a light and breezy feel.
The home office at the end of the garden
Here you will want shading from the sun but also daylight. The best choice will be a metal venetian blind which will allow you to perfectly control the sun into the room but still easily cast your eyes over the garden with a quick adjustment, click here for the full range.
Blinds 2go :: Perforated blinds
Posted by Anna in Take one blind, Venetian blinds on December 8th, 2009
Why choose perforated venetian blinds? A venetian blind is one of the best blinds for controlling light and privacy, raise or lower the blind or adjust the slats to exactly control your environment. A perforated blind has an extra trick up its sleeve, it allows light to gently filter through while shading a room from the full glare of the sun.
This modern looking blind will look particularly good in a home study. We have three perforated blinds, in white, alabaster and aluminium that will look very smart in any room.
This blog post got the Blinds 2go team wondering about holes, so here’s some of our favourite things with holes. And if anybody knows the answer to this……if sea sponges didn’t have holes, how much deeper would the sea be, then Marcus wants to know!
