A Chat with Home Interior & Lifestyle Blogger @myfirsthomebyclaire
Today we’re continuing our series of chats with our favourite interior experts as we talk to Claire of @myfirsthomebyclaire fame. She’s kindly agreed to give us an insight into what goes in to making a beautiful, Insta-worthy home so you kind find some inspiration of your very own.
What has been your favourite room to decorate?
I think my favourite room to decorate was the office/study as I went completely out of my comfort zone with a new style of decor compared to the rest of my home. I love to experiment with different styles.
What’s your favourite room to actually live in?
I absolutely love my lounge as it’s such a warm and welcoming room. As much as I love modern and chic design, I wanted my home to be cosy and the lounge is definitely somewhere I can chill out and relax.
What has been the biggest hurdle you’ve had to overcome when decorating your home? Any design disasters?
No disasters as such but my biggest problem was rushing some of the rooms to begin with. I was so excited to get started that I bought a lot of things before I even moved in that didn’t end up working together. I now try to mood board rooms first to make sure all the decor works together before buying.
What are your design inspirations?
I get most of my inspiration from show homes. I love the way they are dressed so elegantly while also keeping that homely feel. I also get a lot of my inspiration from other real homes on Instagram.
Which blinds from our collection have you used and where, and what’s been your experience with them?
I have the white Shutters from Blinds2go in my office/study and they work so well. They make such a statement in the room and were so easy to fit. The shutters arrived really quickly and are very good quality. Highly recommend!
Any top-tips for your fellow renovation adventurers?
I think its important to be patient and not rush the process too much so you don’t make mistakes you regret later. Think things through carefully and try a mood board a room before rushing into big decisions.
We simply love Claire’s style. She’s managed to create somewhere that’s stylish and homely and, of course, our very own blinds and shutters have played a big part.. For more inspiration on how to make your home as lovely as hers, check out her Instagram account and her blog.
