Nestled in the grounds of Kensington Palace lies the beautiful property that Royal insiders refer to as ‘Nott Cott’, or Nottingham Cottage to the rest of us. The cosy two bedroom property has some great history, once the home of King William III and more recently the London base for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. For the last four years it’s been the home of Prince Harry and and was intended to be his and Meghan Markle’s home after the upcoming wedding.
It’s fair to say then that Nottingham Cottage must be close to Harry’s heart, and it’s definitely close to ours, since our HQ is in Nottingham!
Beautiful as Nottingham Cottage is, when we managed to track down some pics of the inside we couldn’t help but imagine what it might look like after a Meghan-friendly makeover. Here’s the interior before:
We scoured Instagram and found some pics of Meghan’s Toronto apartment so we could see how she likes her pad set up, and inspiration flowed! Here it is after we ‘Meghanised’ it!
We think Meghan would have loved this look; bright and airy, filled with florals and luxe touches, we’re sure she’d have felt right at home having brought some Toronto city style to the plush grounds of Kensington Palace.
Granted, plans have changed and the Royal couple won’t be staying in Nottingham Cottage after the nuptials, but we were so inspired by this idea that we just had to share!
If you’re inspired too then fear not, you don’t need a palatial pad to recreate this luxe look.
Bright shades make for an airy space, with florals to lift and revitalise and give it that stately feel.
Designer patterns are a great touch too, for a little added opulence.
