How to decorate with Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2021

January 26th, 2021 in All About Blinds

With the new year, you might be thinking of giving your home a little bit of a refresh. If you’re unsure about where to start, Pantone has just released their colour of the year (or in this case, colours) to give you some inspiration!

This year we have ‘PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating’ which is a bright and cheerful yellow, and ‘PANTONE 17- 5104 Ultimate Gray’ emblematic of pebbles on the beach and natural elements. A complementary duo that brings style to your home with ease and we have plenty of yellow and grey blinds and curtains that beautifully express this stunning trend.

Pantone describes these as “The union of an enduring Ultimate Gray with the vibrant yellow Illuminating expresses a message of positivity supported by fortitude. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a colour combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted, this is essential to the human spirit.”

Both Pantone colours are captured in the stunning Watercolour Stripe Ochre Roman Blind from the Clarissa Hulse range, pairing a mustard ochre tone with a sleek grey to fit this trend perfectly.

For a contemporary take on this look there is the Nuevo Dandelion design from the Scion collection. The bold, interlocking shapes bring an air of cubism to this design as well as offering a great interpretation of the hottest new Pantone colours.

As well as designs which capture both these stunning colours in one, there are a wide range of blinds and curtains expressing the individual colours. Here is a selection of styles, each of which beautifully communicate Ultimate Gray or Illuminating and offer a simple and affordable way to introduce these Pantone colours into your home.

An iconic design with lots of personality and even better, it’s bringing the gorgeous sunny yellow into your home all year round. The Linear Stem Dandelion Roller Blind by Orla Kiely features its signature stem pattern that will sit perfectly with modern grey tones.

From the Cath Kidston range, the Button Spot Yellow design will beautifully bring the trend into your home. Sweet white polka dots contrast on the yellow fabric, simply pair with grey interiors to create a space that’s full of style and charm.

In collaboration with the V&A, the William Morris Acorn Dove Curtains perfectly combines this year’s most popular colour with a delectable pattern. The intricate design is a stunning way to bring some designer style and the versatile trend into your home.

Bring the sunshine into your favourite space with the Bijou Linen Sunflower Roman Blind. The glorious, vibrant yellow blind is just the perfect way to add a joyful splash of colour to your home and a muted grey will complement it wonderfully.
