Here on the blog, we’re used to showing you fancy London apartments or suburban homes in our Hot Off The Press posts, but today, we have a lovely treat as the house in question is a cute rustic cottage, in the town of Little Chalfont, straight from the pages of Your Home Magazine.
Samantha and her husband moved into their pretty cottage earlier this year, and after much hard work, they’ve finally got it feeling homely and full of character. There were plenty of traditional features in place, but the previous owners made the cottage feel just a little too contemporary for the property.
The chimney breast was previously painted in a dark suede-effect paint, which did not do the lovely open fire any justice. After sanding down and painting the wall an off-white shade the whole space felt light and the brickwork looked all the more beautiful too.
And we just admire the patchwork of designs on the tiles to the foot of the fireplace, not only adding a design feature, but having their practical uses too, catching any loose sparks that may fly.
And Samantha has made sure she’s found the perfect balance between style and practicality at her windows too…
The gentle grey tone looks simply gorgeous in the room of dusky pastels and textured surfaces. And with a wealth of textures and fabrics to choose from, it’s no surprise that Samantha came to us to help dress her cottage windows.
Why not take a look at our other beautiful grey fabrics and give your home that rustic country touch- http://bit.ly/1jFZ9lQ
