High Street to Home: Clocks

March 29th, 2015 in Home Improvement

Our ‘New Beginnings’ are now in full transition. We’ve just begun a new lunar phase and a new season, which is probably why the earth has decided to shift another gear and launch us into the British Summer Time Daylight Saving Hours. No, it’s not some mumbo jumbo we’ve made up by throwing a few words together, but it does means that you should’ve put your clocks forward by an hour this morning. (And if you struggle to remember which way around the change is, its Spring Forward, Fall Back – easy peasy!)

But with modern technology not telling us whether they’ve changed the hour, it’s hard to tell what’s actually the right time.

So what better excuse than now to find yourself a fresh new clock to keep you aground and to revitalise your space. We’ve selected ten of our favourites from the high-street for you to reinvent your home for less.

#10 We’re kicking off the countdown with a simple, yet sophisticated time piece. The colour of the Hendrix Blue Clock has a taste of the Spring air whilst the coloured face adds a retro vibe. This look is great for getting the balance of something fresh and something aged in your home.

Jones Fresh Milk Clock milkbottle

#9 We love things that are a little playful and this Fresh Milk Clock is exactly that! The face feels very pop-art and is sure to get you in the mood for a great day ahead every morning.

#8 Is there even a better way to brighten up your home than with this wonderfully colourful Array Wall Clock? We certainly think not! And seeing as it has an umbrella of shades, it’s sure to fit into any room.

Distressed Wall ClockScreen Shot 2015-03-24 at 14.36.54

#7 If you’re after a clock that’s elegant and charming, then this Distressed Clock is a sure option. Make a feature out of a plain wall or relax a busy one with the distressed white detailing. It’s feminine and delicate, letting it add period drama to your home.

CentaurusClock Centaurus Wall Clock

#6 If you’ve looked at our Pinterest, you may have noticed that we have a little thing for oversized, rustic clocks, and this one is no different. The Centaurus might not be the biggest in size but what it lacks in diameter, it makes up for in character and style. You really get a sense of history with this clock.

Metal Fob Wall ClockMetalFob

#5 For the pocket-watch lovers out there who struggle with the impracticalities of one, but love the look, the Metal Fob Wall Clock is a great addition to the home. This oversized timepiece is quirky yet traditional, and with the option of Black, Silver or Copper, you can suit it to every taste.

#4 Again, we love this clock for its sense of history and past. The face looks weathered and distressed with decorative hands vamping up the elegance and style. And thanks to soft creamy tone, you shouldn’t find any problems hanging it with pride.

Flaps Red Wall Clock Screen Shot 2015-03-24 at 14.38.35

#3 We’ve focused a lot on traditional-looking pieces in this episode, but if you’re after something a little bit more modern and upbeat then the Flap Red Clock is a simple choice. The bright choice of colour gives this otherwise nostalgic clock a contemporary twist, with simple mechanisms and a bold face.

AntiqueBronze Antique Bronze Effect Gilt Clock

#2 It’s always fascinating to see the inside workings of a clock and the cogs within this Antique Bronze clock simply transport us into another dimension This clock would look right at home as a feature piece, or nestled amongst other accessories in a busy environment. And with the cut out style, it will work with your walls, not against them.

Moon ClockMoon

#1 With one of the most impressive solar eclipses happening just last week, we had to dedicate the number one spot to this fascinating lunar clock. The face of this clock has impressive details and we think it would look great in a children’s bedroom, helping them to reach for the stars.
