Feature Friday :: things that made me giggle

As well as writing the blog I also write the descriptions of the blinds for the Blinds 2go site. I do spend therefore a bit of time on google images just checking that my perception of say ‘magenta’ is what everybody else’s is too! I’m used to the odd unexpected image turning up but when I typed in ‘lime’ and the picture of the cat below popped up I really did have a giggle!

So here’s my tales of the expected and the unexpected from the last couple of days and just in case you’re wondering I was searching for lime, mole, seal and buff!

Feature Friday :: Google Doodles

I think I’ve missed a trick by using my google toolbar to search. I’m missing out on Google Doodles!

Google Doodles celebrate notable events, e.g. someone’s birthday, celebration, sporting event etc  by decorating the Google logo in an appropriate manner. To read about the history of the doodles just click here.

Feature Friday :: Container architecture

Who knew a container had so much potential? American architectural practice Maziar Behrooz did. They placed two containers on top of each other; partly cut away the floor for a double height section and voilà – an art studio in the Hamptons, New York.

By the way! Such huge window areas demand a very special window blind. We’d definitely be thinking along the lines of our rigid vertical blinds, they would definitely be an equal match for such a modern and streamlined look.

Say hello to Frooty cups by Absolute Appetite, according to Elle Decoration they’re a future classic. Personally I’m loving them, but how exactly do they stand up?

Feature Friday :: Blaue & Blume by Undergrowth Design

If you would like a little escapism then visit Undergrowth Design. I haven’t seen anything as quirky as the Blaue and Blume designs in a long time.  Available from My Deco.

Inspired by the obscure and uncanny the designer tries to breathe life into everyday objects to create an unconscious dialog between the object and user. The aim of her design is to enthral the user and give a sense of other worldliness to everyday life.

Feature Friday :: Aspiral clock

The Aspiral clock is one great clock. It’s a clock that literally rocks and rolls. What’s even better is it’s designed and handmade in London.

By the way, the clocks will be going forward at the end of the month. If the whole clock changing thing is still a mystery then just remember that they spring forward and fall back. Still clueless? They go forward one hour in spring (the last Sunday in March) and go back one hour in autumn (the last Sunday in October).

Feature Friday :: Frames wallpaper by Graham & Brown

The writing’s on the wall!

I love this interactive Frames wallpaper from Graham and Brown. Hang it and just leave it or allow your nearest and dearest to sketch, graffiti or draw away. Not for the fainthearted and for the sentimental types (me) can you just imagine the horror of painting over it?!

Available from our friends at WallPaper Direct.

Feature Friday :: Weird & Wonky windows – bad news for blinds!

At Blinds 2go we’re not too happy with these! We pride ourselves on the straightness of our blinds, among other things of course. Has nobody heard of planning permission?

Thanks to tchochkes and hue.

Feature Friday :: Bath made from volcanic stone

We do like to feature things that are a little spectacular!

This bath is crafted from metamorphosed stone washed downstream from the active Marapi volcano. It’s polished to a smooth finish inside but I can’t help feeling it wouldn’t be the comfiest bath in the world. Available from Indigenous Ltd.
