Take one blind :: Urban Blue roller blind (and go a bit retro)
Posted by Anna in House stuff, Roller blinds, Take one blind, kitchen on February 9th, 2010
Just what is retro? Well for a start it’s our Urban Blue roller blind but according to the Oxford Dictionary it’s also anything “imitative of a style from the recent past”. Retro comes from the French rétrograde, i.e. ‘retrograde’.
Lesson over and down to this roller blind, Urban Blue sports a series of coloured oblong shapes that contrast nicely with the soft white background. Most of the shapes are pale duck egg blue, but there are some that sparkle in silver and some that are a very dark navy blue. The rectangular shapes are reminiscent of furniture from the 50’s and 60’s which was sleek and long, hence the retro.
This blind will look great in any modern room, particularly one that’s decorated in cool silver, grey or blue. Kitchens and bathrooms will suit the look but equally in a minimalist living area Urban Blue could be the perfect finishing touch.
If you’re inspired by the retro leanings of this blind then look out for formica, g plan furniture, vinyl and of course Miss Wong Tretchikoff. For retro buys and ideas try Vintage Retro, Retro Decades, and Retro to go. Here’s some images to inspire but hopefully not frighten you!
Take one blind :: Breton Cream Roman Blind
Posted by Anna in House stuff, Roman blinds, Take one blind on January 14th, 2010
Take one blind …
The Breton Cream roman blind is very popular, second only to our Panama White roman blind. We think the Breton’s popularity is down to the combination of light cream colour and soft handle which is ever so slightly corded. Once someone touches a sample of this they have to have it!
The discrete texture gives the blind a luxurious feel and its perfect for any elegant space. The versatile colour will work well in any room, whether it be decorated in neutral tones or with vibrant colour.
All of the Luxe Roman Blinds can be made with either standard lining or blackout lining. Blackout clearly works superbly in a bedroom environment and is a good way to keep the light out, excellent if you fancy a lie in or maybe work a shift pattern.
Order the Breton Cream straight away, many of our customers do, or request a free sample, we post samples on the same day so it will be in your hands the very next day.

Take one blind :: Midnight black wooden blind
Posted by Anna in House stuff, Take one blind, Wooden blinds on December 10th, 2009
Take one blind …
A wooden blind is guaranteed to add style, and in black it’s contemporary style all the way. The Midnight Black wooden blind from the Soho range is very desirable, particularly in the 50mm slat size. The bonus of 50mm is the extra light that’s allowed in and also the less restricted view to the outside.
We’ve imagined this blind in three different settings but the options are endless. Black is a particularly useful colour when designing an interior, it will add balance and strength to any colour scheme whether it be pastels, brights or neutrals. Cutting to the chase, we love this blind and we think there’s a place for it in most homes.

Glamorous dining
Opt for quality tableware including crystal glasses, beautiful candles and linen napkins. Introduce a statement colour to keep it the right side of dramatic.
Sophisticated sleeping
Black wooden blinds needn’t be masculine, not when teamed with soft textures and luxurious fabrics. The softness of the wood at the windows echoes boutique hotels and hideaways.
Uber cool kitchen
It can be drama all the way by mixing black in with red. A metal blind is the obvious choice in a kitchen but wood will give an added touch of natural styling.
Blinds 2go :: Perforated blinds
Posted by Anna in Take one blind, Venetian blinds on December 8th, 2009
Why choose perforated venetian blinds? A venetian blind is one of the best blinds for controlling light and privacy, raise or lower the blind or adjust the slats to exactly control your environment. A perforated blind has an extra trick up its sleeve, it allows light to gently filter through while shading a room from the full glare of the sun.
This modern looking blind will look particularly good in a home study. We have three perforated blinds, in white, alabaster and aluminium that will look very smart in any room.
This blog post got the Blinds 2go team wondering about holes, so here’s some of our favourite things with holes. And if anybody knows the answer to this……if sea sponges didn’t have holes, how much deeper would the sea be, then Marcus wants to know!

Take one blind …
This roller blind ticks lots of boxes, not only is it a great colour, it’s also made from PVC so it will perform brilliantly in tricky places such as steamy kitchens or bathrooms. Have a look at this blog post for more info on PVC blinds in the wet. More about the colour though, it’s as close to duck egg blue as you can get, such a classic blue that never dates.
Of course being made from PVC it also makes it a black-out blind. A perfect blind for a child’s bedroom, extrememly easy to clean and effective at keeping out the mid-day sun at nap time.
