Christmas Crafts – Candy Cane Mice

December 21st, 2014 in The Best of the Rest

Today, we thought we’d give you a great idea that isn’t just for decoration – they’re mighty tasty too!

These candy cane mice can be hung from your tree, scattered across your dinner table or even given as gifts! So without further ado, here’s your how to…

What You’ll Need:

What To Do:

  1. Start by printing a copy of the mouse cutout (you can find it here) at your desired size – a 150% enlargement is recommended – and then trace the body and ears onto a piece of felt – you can use contrasting colours to cut out the mousey details or just add them on afterwards with a marker pen
  2. Cut slits in the felt fabric at the markings and slide the ears through the slits at the front before sliding the candy cane into place
  3. Add any further decoration to your mice – maybe some glitter for a sparkly finish or a ribbon around their candy cane tails for a dainty touch!

And there you have it – as easy as that! Now comes the hard part… Trying not to eat them before you decorate!

I love books (read The Road by Cormac McCarthy, you won't regret it!), pigs (oink oink!) and drinking tea (who doesn't?!). The quirky things in life make me happy and I really love everything about the colour red.
